Dr. Landon Pryor M.D.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
As a native to the Chicago area, Dr. Pryor received his Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He then returned to Chicago to pursue a career in medicine at Loyola University Chicago Strict School of Medicine. Through his interest in healthcare delivery to underserved areas, Dr. Pryor had the opportunity to travel to Central and South America throughout his medical education. An early exposure to the field coupled by his fascination with the diversity and complexity of the surgeries performed, Dr. Pryor set out to complete the highly competitive residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Pryor completed this Coordinated General Surgery/Plastic Surgery Residency through Summa Health System/Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in 2007. Dedicated to maximizing his surgical training, Dr. Pryor then went on to complete two independent one year post-graduate fellowships in Plastic Surgery Subspecialties. In 2008, Dr. Pryor completed the highly sought after Pediatric/Craniofacial Fellowship in San Diego through the University of California, San Diego/Rady Children's Hospital San Diego, and Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, a nonprofit organization designed to provide free reconstructive surgery to children in need worldwide. Finally, in 2009 Dr. Pryor reached the pinnacle of his many years of surgical education with a Fellowship in Cosmetic Surgery of the Face and Body at the world acclaimed Cleveland Clinic Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Throughout his training, Dr. Pryor has contributed to plastic surgery education through extensive teaching of residents and medical students and research in the field. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in medical journals and presented his work at meetings both nationally and internationally. He continues his involvement in surgical brigades to underdeveloped countries. During his recreational time, Dr. Pryor enjoys staying active with running, weight lifting, and an occasional game of tennis or golf.
My personal statement written for medical school admission opens with the poetic quote, "We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from it." This sentiment still echoes in my mind today, even after all of the rigors of medical school and residency. However, it has much more meaning to me at this stage in my life. I am fortunate to have found a field of medicine that I am very enthusiastic about, and know that this passion for plastic surgery will only continue to grow stronger.
