WHAT TO EXPECT

During your consultation, you’ll have a chance to talk with Dr. Kopolovic about your treatment options, advantages and disadvantages, details about the procedure and recovery – and anything else that’s on your mind. This is also an opportunity for the doctor to get to know you, to evaluate if you are a good candidate for a particular surgery, and to formulate a treatment plan. Before and after photos will be available to help clarify the possible outcomes. We will also review risks, complications and costs. Your consultation will take about an hour.

A consultation is especially important as it creates a patient/physician relationship based on trust, experience and expertise. We consider all of our patients as part of our "family." Our door is always open for future visits.

CONSULTATIONS FOR BREAST ENLARGEMENT AND BREAST LIFTS
For augmentation mammaplasties (breast enlargement) and/or augmentation mammaplasties with a mastoplexy (breast enlargement with a breast lift), we also offer a free consultation with a member of our medical staff. For these cosmetic procedures, we encourage patients to schedule this free consultation, which allows our staff to spend more time with you. During this time, before and after photographs will be reviewed with you to create a better focus on the proposed results.

A second, full consultation will then be scheduled with Dr. Kopolovic. By this time, you will have a good understanding of the proposed surgery and what can be expected from it. During the consultation with Dr. Kopolovic, additional fine tuning will be done to further focus on the desired results and to give the doctor an opportunity to determine any other considerations that will be important to give you the best results. We urge you to take advantage of this program as it will help you achieve your own final realistic goals.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Records and documents are only released to patients with prior written consent. In every respect, your interactions with this office remain completely private and discreet.

Questions the Doctor Will Ask You

What cosmetic concerns do you have?

Have you had any previous surgeries, cosmetic or otherwise?
Do you have any medical conditions?

PREPARING FOR SURGERY

Once you have decided on the procedure, and you and your surgeon have discussed the details, you may be asked to:

Have lab tests done, or have a medical evaluation
Stop smoking for a period of time before your surgery
Adjust current medications, or take new medications
Avoid drugs that can cause bleeding, such as aspirin, herbal supplements or anti-inflammatory drugs.

It will be beneficial to prepare your home prior to surgery. Make a comfortable place where you can rest for several days, and be sure to have everything you will need within easy reach. Any chores that require any type of manual labor should be taken care of prior to surgery.

Be sure to make arrangements for someone to pick you up from surgery and to take you to get your prescriptions filled.

POST-OPERATIVE CARE
Dr. Kopolovic will take calls 24-hours-a-day, 7 days a week from his patients. Following the surgery, all patients get the doctor’s answering service phone number, and all patients will receive a phone call the evening following surgery. Patients become part of our "family" and there is no charge for follow-up visits.

EMERGENCIES
In the event of a severe situation, dial 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room.

COSTS
Consultation Fees
We charge a $100 consultation fee for cosmetic surgery procedures. This money is refunded in the form of a credit to your account if a surgical procedure is scheduled within 6 months of your initial visit.

Phone Quoting
We do not quote prices over the telephone. You must be seen in person in order to make an accurate assessment of what procedures might be indicated for you.

Fees for Surgical Services
The fees for surgical services are due four weeks prior to the procedure date. We accept Visa, MasterCard, cashier’s checks, and cash. There are several very good financing plans available that we can help process for you. We accept personal checks mailed in advance. The professional fees can be reviewed at any time with the patient coordinator.

Insurance and Billing
We are not a provider for any specific insurance company. If your plan allows you to go out-of-network, as a courtesy to those patients, we will file insurance claims for reconstructive procedures. Please help us process these claims promptly by bringing your insurance information with you on your first visit.

We will verify the coverage provided by your health insurance plan before surgery. The patient is responsible for the co-pay, deductible, and co-insurance. The patient may also be responsible for any amount that is not covered by insurance.

Remember that your healthcare policy is a contract between you and your insurance company. It is ultimately the patient's responsibility to pay for services provided by the Plastic Surgery Professional Association.
